Blue Ridge (population 244), is a hamlet on Highway 658, 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) north of highway 43, midway between the towns of Whitecourt and Mayerthorpe and approximately 159 kilometers (99mi) northwest of Edmonton. A lumber mill to the north of Blue Ridge, operated by Blue Ridge Lumber Inc., is the main employer for the community. We also have a general store with a gas pump and a hotel with bar and café. There is also a gas bar, liquor store, and convenience store at the junction of 43 & 658.
Public amenities include a community hall, library, cemetery, the Berry Nice Spray Park, outdoor skating rink with warm-up room, baseball diamond, and an RV dumping station.
Nearby (5km north) is the Blue Ridge Recreation Area and White Ridge Motocross Park with picnic areas, swimming, and camping.
Meetings are held at 7 p.m., the 2nd Monday of the month, September through to June at the Blue Ridge Community Hall. Guests are welcome or come join our volunteer team. Regular activities and groups include:
